NWE Is Keeping The Heat On

With temperatures across the state hitting record lows for the year, Northwestern Energy noted the company is keeping the heat on.

In a press release sent across the state, the utility said that peak demand this week has outstripped the company's energy homegrown portfolio and they are buying power on the spot market to make up for the difference.

NWE relies on hydro-electric energy and power from coal and natural gas and green wind energy for most of its needs - but only when the wind is blowing. As temperatures dipped Wednesday and winds (finally) died down, the company was forced to pay up to twice as much for out-of-state power to keep Montana's homes and businesses warm.
