A fund for displaced workers raised by United Way of Missoula County is taking applications for a third round of grants, but this time workers who have lost their jobs from Ravalli County, and Mineral County, will also be able to apply. United Way CEO Susan Hay Patrick explained the program to Mountain Broadcasting news:
“So we started several weeks ago, a Covid 19 Emergency Assistance fund, principally to assist displaced service and tip-dependent gig economy workers. People who care for our kids and serve us our meals and pour our beers and cut our hair and work us out at the gym. That fund has distributed almost $300,000 and we reopened it today to start accepting more applications because we have another infusion of $100,000 The community has been incredibly generous, businesses, individuals and foundations.”
